The Flagler Beach  Fire Department was organized in 1926 as a volunteer department. Currently, the department consists of six career firefighters paid by the City of Flagler Beach.  These members are on 2-man shifts and are on-duty at the firehouse for 24 hours, and off duty for 48 hours.  Flagler Beach also has a 16 volunteer firefights and 5 volunteer fire police officers.  The department provides fire and rescue services to the City of Flagler Beach and some unincorporated areas of  Flagler County.  We also provide water rescue and have a five man dive team that assists the Flagler County Sheriff's Office when called.

The current fire station was built in 1996 and is located at 320 S. Flagler Avenue. Apparatus housed at the station includes:

2005-E One Engine on a Freightliner/Mercedes Chassis that  carries 1000 gallons of water as well as Basic Life Support supplies and auto extrication tools.  This is our main engine and is used for residential and/or commercial fires, rescue incidents and other various calls.

Our backup engine is a 1997 Pierce Engine that carries 1000 gallons of water and Basic Life Support supplies.  This is also the primary engine for our volunteers.

Our primary response vehicle for medical emergencies and auto accidents is a 2004 Seagrave 300 gallon squad.  This vehicle allows a crew of up to  five to navigate through the small city streets easily and is more fuel efficient and less maintenance.  It carries a variety of auto extrication  tools:  Basic Life Support supplies and water rescue supplies.  It also has the ability to mitigate small fires.

Station 11 also has two pieces of brush fire equipment.  One is a Chevrolet pickup with a 250 gallon water tank with Class-A foam and various forestry tools.  We also have a Military  600 gallon water tank  and various forestry tools.

For water rescue, Station 11 has Zumro 17 foot Water Rescue Boat.  This boat is used for ocean rescue, intracoastal rescue, and the dive team.  It allows divers easy access in and out of the boat as well as the stability needed in rough ocean rescue situations or search and rescue operations.  For other water rescue situations as well as search and rescue.

An advance life support ambulance is housed at the station by the Flagler County Emergency Services and is staffed 24 hours by at least one paramedic and one emergency medical technician.

We are always accepting applications for volunteer members who are residents of Flagler County are 18 years of age and older.

Fire Chief Martin Roberts has been with the department since November 2005 and is a retired Chief from Radford, Virginia.  Assistant Fire Chief, Shane Wood, has been a member since 1991 and became an employee in 1997.
